Kristin and Gabe | Wedding Highlight

Kristin & Gabe’s love story…

“From the moment I saw Kristin I knew she was special. If it wasn’t for the fact that I had such a strong personality and witty sense of humor I may have never won her over. In all seriousness, I am so blessed that not once, but twice we crossed paths over the course of a couple months. Especially since my follow up wasn’t the best after our initial encounter.

Let’s start from the beginning, it was Memorial Day Weekend and there was a concert that we were both going to from mutual friend Justin Goellner (TEKsystems colleague). The concert was at a local bar in Old Town Scottsdale and I was going to one of my favorite bars before the concert began to have a few drinks and appetizers at El Hefe. She came in shortly after and all I could think to myself was “she is adorable.” After a few adult beverages I built up the courage to ask for a kiss, but I was respectfully declined! Which made sense since I just met her a few hours ago. We continued to have a wonderful afternoon and day and I told her I would take her to dinner later that week (for our first date). Unfortunately, due to my immaturity at the time, I dropped my phone in the pool and did not follow up with her the way I should have nor what she deserved. She calls me pretty dumb for not following up, especially since I worked with Justin who I could have easily gotten her number from once I got my new phone.

So life went on for the both of us and if it wasn’t by the faith of God or maybe the luck of El Hefe we may have never run into each other again. It was early August and I had the idea of having a DNO (Dudes Night Out) for all the guys in our office. We all chipped in and got a hotel and the plan was to go out and get table service at El Hefe which was honestly our favorite bar. The majority of the guys from office meet up at El Hefe and we are having a great time when I noticed that she walked in. That is when everything began to change for the better! She immediately hit my arm and said, “thanks for the dinner and the follow-up punk.” Rightfully so. I deserved being hit and I promised her this time I would not let her down and we would go out to dinner on that Wednesday. I had to make it on Wednesday as that was pay day and making very little money at the time. I had to make sure I had the funds to treat her to a nice meal. The night continued and we danced almost the entire night until the bar closed which was 2am, which meant we both had to go our separate ways. I made sure she got in a cab safely and as I was about to walk back to my hotel, when she called me immediately just to talk and see what I was up to. She was most likely calling to ensure I was staying out of trouble 🙂

Two days later our first date: I picked Kristin up from her apartment and we walked across the street to a nice restaurant called Hillstone’s in the Biltmore Fashion Park. Once again we caught ourselves closing the restaurant from talking and wanting to learn more about each other. I think we both could agree that we didn’t want that date to end. Which luckily it hasn’t!

Kristin and I have been inseparable since which could explain us moving in together about two months into dating. I think we both knew there was something special here! Kristin and I share a passion for finding new places to eat with craft beers and drinks. We both share so much love for our dogs Bailey and now Bevy. We may not have any children, but it sure feels like we do by the way we spoil our pups. They go on more adventures
